Well for Bryan's b-day, I thought it would be fun to go down to San Francisco for a short little trip. We lucked out with gorgeous weather - 60's and sunny and very little wind . . not typical San Francisco weather in March. On Saturday it was so nice in fact that I tell you . .buy your tickets to Alcatrez Island ahead of time . . of you will have to buy tickets for the next day as they sell out on busy weekends/nice weather days.
So on Saturday, we decided to venture to the San Francisco Art institute and check out Bryan's old stomping grounds when he went to school there. Isn't the Mr. Potato Head painting which was done by a student just awesome? It was such a gorgeous day, we had to of course go to the Golden Gate Bridge for photos at sunset. Bryan brought with him two lenses that he made from enlarger lenses that he used in school to make prints when he was actually still shooting film. On a side note, Bryan says he can still shoot film, he still owns a F5, FM3A, F100 and Hasselblad 501CM.
The next day we headed out to Alcatrez Island . .and while Zoe loved the boat ride and walking around Alcatrez, she wasn't all that into the cells and the inside of the prison . .ha. And can I tell you that a baby's cry in a prison echoes really well? We of course had to stop for lunch at the awesome Buena Vista for a irish coffee and then we headed down the coast stopping in the beautiful little town of Capitola and Santa Cruz for some pier shots.
On our last day, we wanted to go to the Academy of Sciences near Golden Gate Park. Isn't the fish that is as large as the woman . .just amazing. If I had a good memory, I could tell you the name of the fish. Before we left, we went up on to the roof to the entirely green roof and it was soo cool and that's when Bryan was able to snap that simply adorable photo of Zoe with her hands reaching towards the camera.
Make sure and watch the slideshow and enjoy the music stylings of the Me First and the Gimmes Gimmes.
